Weekend vandalism has led to an unknown amount of damage at Centennial High School.

A pair of juveniles are believed to have spray-painted the Lady Spartans' softball dugout and turf sometime Saturday, Burleson Police Sgt. Wes Routson said. Vandalism was reported to police at 2 p.m. Tuesday, assumedly after it was noticed by school officials.

"We are still investigating what can be cleaned up and what can’t be," said Coach Shannon Sullivan, who is unsure of the financial costs of the vandalism.

The male juvenile suspects are believed to be between ages 11-13. They may have been attending a sports event at Centennial and wandered off, Routson said. The juveniles are believed to have found spray paint and then went to the softball field.

Graffiti was placed on the dugout wall, floor and turf, Sullivan said. It may also be in the bullpen, Routson said. The manner of the graffiti seems as if the juveniles "started to write 'Burleson,'" Routson said, but he doesn't believe it was related to Burleson High School, who the Spartans play in football this week.

"We think this is a case of too much time and lack of supervision," he said.

Police are continuing to follow-up with suspects.

"There was nothing racial or vulgar in what was written," Routson said.

"They spray-painted inappropriate things," Sullivan said.

The Lady Spartans were district champions and Region I-5A semifinalists last season.

Ricky Moore contributed to this report.
