Burn ban triggered in Johnson County for next 60 hours

City of Burleson's Fireworks show is still on

A burn ban in effect in Johnson County because drought conditions, which have worsened this week and increased the threat of wildfires.

The ban will be in effect for the next 60 hours.

The City of Burleson’s fireworks show at 7:30 on Wednesday will not be affected according to a post at 6:47 p.m. on the Burleson Fire Department’s Facebook page.

“The city-sponsored fireworks show at Chisenhall Sports Complex is still scheduled. The professional fireworks show has to undergo a variety of safety measures, including a safety plan. It is also under the jurisdiction of the city Fire Marshal.”

A declaration Tuesday by County Judge Rodger Harmon stated the county “is under imminent threat of severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property” from possible wildfires.

A Tweet from the Johnson County emergency management said that a disaster was declared based “the drought index in Johnson County has issued a Disaster Declaration that includes a ban on use of firework for 60 (hours).”
