Burleson Mayor Ken Shetter issued a proclamation declaring Saturday as Burleson Boomers Day, acknowledging a new focus of First Baptist Church that specifically encourages folks born between 1946 and 1964 to become involved in a variety of ministries inside and outside the church. FBC-Burleson’s Promises Ministry, which includes a food bank and various counseling services, serves more than 3,000 clients a year. The Boomer Ministry, which also seeks to mentor younger generations, is sponsoring an evening of fun and challenge on Saturday that includes an acclaimed Elvis Presley Tribute Artist, music of the 1960s and 1970s and a classic car and truck display. Accepting the proclamation are FBC Pastor Ronny Marriott (left) and Cade Garrison, chair of the Boomer Committee.
