A dispute between two neighbors in the Pleasant Manor Estates neighborhood ended in murder Monday afternoon.
Burleson Police were called to a home on the 600 block of Lynnewood Avenue at 3:44 p.m according to a release from Burleson Communications Director DeAnna Phillips.
The caller and homeowner, Patrick Daniel Murphy, 42, said that his neighbor Albinus Zoerner, 62, came to his home and threatened him. Murphy said that while Zoerner was in Murphy’s house he had shot Zoerner.
Burleson Fire and MedStar arrived on scene and began performing CPR on the victim. Zoerner was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital via MedStar ground ambulance and was pronounced deceased at 4:51 p.m.
“The shooting was promoted over a dispute between two neighbors, culminating in the death of Mr. Zoerner,” Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said. “After examining the details of the case and consulting with the Johnson County District Attorney, Investigators arrested Mr. Murphy for murder and will present a case to the District Attorney.”
Murphy was arrested and transported to Johnson County Jail. He is being held on murder charges. Murphy was cooperative with investigators. The investigation is ongoing.
